01Who we are
Star Factor is a live entertainment venture built by Chainfren. We decide what personal data this site collects and how it is used, which under the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 makes us the data controller for it.
Reach us about anything on this page at bolaji@chainfren.com.
02What we collect
If you join the waitlist:
- Your email address.
- Where you came from — the page you signed up on, the referring site, and your browser's user-agent string. We use this to understand which channels actually work.
If you apply to be cast:
- Your name, age, city and state, email address, and phone number (we use WhatsApp).
- A link to the video you submit.
- Your social handles, where you choose to give them — Instagram, TikTok, X, YouTube.
- A record that you consented, and when.
- The same referral and user-agent information as above.
That is the complete list. We do not collect your location, we do not run advertising trackers or third-party advertising pixels on this site, and we do not buy personal data about you from anyone else.
03Why we collect it
- Waitlist email — to tell you when Season 1 opens, and nothing else. We are not going to sell it or rent it to anyone.
- Casting application — to assess you for the show, contact you about your application, and verify you meet the entry requirements.
- Attribution data — to see which channels bring people in, and to detect abuse of the forms.
Our lawful basis is your consent, which you give by submitting the form, plus our legitimate interest in running the forms securely.
04Who else touches it
We keep the number of parties deliberately small. Today, three:
- Our database and hosting providers — where the site runs and where the records are stored.
- HubSpot — our CRM. Waitlist and casting records are mirrored there so we can manage the conversations.
- Email delivery — to send you the messages you signed up for.
Some of these process data outside Nigeria. Where that happens, we rely on the transfer safeguards in those providers' standard terms.
05How long we keep it
- Waitlist emails — until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them, or until we have gone two years without launching anything you signed up for, whichever comes first.
- Casting applications — for the current casting cycle plus twelve months, so we can consider you for the next season. Ask us and we will delete yours sooner.
06Your rights
Under the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 you can ask us to do any of the following, and we will action it within 30 days:
- Show you a copy of everything we hold about you.
- Correct anything that is wrong.
- Delete it.
- Stop using it, or withdraw consent you previously gave.
- Send it to you in a portable format.
Email bolaji@chainfren.com with the word “data request” in the subject line. You do not need to give a reason, and it costs you nothing. If you are not satisfied with how we handle it, you can complain to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission.
07Security
Records are held in an access-controlled database, encrypted in transit. Access is limited to the people who need it to run casting and the waitlist. If a breach affects your data, we will tell you and the regulator — we are not going to sit on it.
08Cookies
This site uses only what it needs to function and to remember your session. We do not run advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. If that changes, this section changes first and you will be asked.
09Children
This site is not for under-18s. Casting applicants must be 21 or over. We do not knowingly collect data from children, and if we learn we have, we delete it.
10Changes
When this policy changes materially, we update the date at the top and email anyone on the waitlist. We are not going to quietly rewrite it.
